"We desperately need major breakthroughs in brain cancer."

Robert Thorburn, Kirsty's Husband

In Memory of Kirsty Thorburn

In January 2024, Kirsty Thorburn was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (or GBM) – the most common and aggressive form of brain cancer.

She underwent surgery and treatment, but despite the best efforts of neurosurgeons and oncologists, Kirsty passed away earlier this month.

Her husband Robert wouldn’t wish brain cancer on his worst enemy.

“This past year has been the most traumatic and horrible time - no treatment could stop this relentless disease that will ultimately kill almost everyone who is diagnosed with it. We must change this.”

To honour Kirsty’s life, Robert is generously raising money for Brain Cancer Australia.

"Today we desperately need major breakthroughs in brain cancer. It remains one of the most devastating cancers and is one of the most under researched of all the cancer groups," said Robert.

We are so grateful to Robert for wanting to make a difference for others diagnosed with brain cancer.
