Brain Cancer Australia is proud to announce its official launch, marking a new chapter in the fight against brain cancer.
Brain Cancer Australia unites the charity arm, formerly known as Brain Cancer Collective, and the national consortium of 89 leading clinicians and researchers, formerly Brain Cancer Biobanking Australia, under one name and one purpose: more brain cancer breakthroughs - faster.
Brain Cancer Australia’s mission is to give everyone who can help defeat brain cancer what they need to do it. By building the research infrastructure that’s been missing for far too long, Brain Cancer Australia will deliver immediate improvements in patient care and a pathway to increased discoveries – impacting all Australians with brain cancer, the people who treat them, and the people who love them.
“We refuse to accept that so many Australians die waiting for brain cancer research to deliver life-saving care and treatments,” said Robyn Leonard, Founding Director of Brain Cancer Australia. “My daughter Lucie lost her life to this devastating disease 12 years ago when she was just 34 years old. I want Lucie’s legacy to be a well-resourced brain cancer research sector in Australia, and a day when patients and families will hear: ‘There’s more we can do for you – this cancer can be defeated.’”
With a new name, a fresh look, and a clear focus on delivering three strategic projects, Brain Cancer Australia is uniting patients, doctors, and researchers to transform brain cancer research. These projects include the Australian Brain Cancer Registry, the Opt Me In (OMI) Platform, and the Biobanking and Organoid Platform. Learn more here.
